9 NEWS | 78-Year-Old Granny Fights Back After Home Invasion
After surviving two terrifying home invasions, 78 year old Sigrid found herself struggling mentally and emotionally. What had once been a comfortable, safe home suddenly felt unfamiliar and frightening. Daily routines became difficult, confidence faded, and the fear lingered long after the intruders were gone.
But Sigrid made a brave decision. Instead of letting the trauma control her life, she signed up for Hitfit’s 28-Day Challenge at Hoppers Crossing, determined to rebuild her strength, confidence, and spirit. Walking through those gym doors for the first time was a turning point and the beginning of a powerful comeback.
For the first month, Sigrid trained with commitment and heart. She pushed herself, rediscovered her resilience, and felt her confidence returning. But when financial restraints meant she couldn’t continue, the Hitfit community immediately stepped in. There was no hesitation, no second thoughts. Members and coaches rallied together, raising the funds to give Sigrid a full 12-month membership so she could keep training without worry.
Since then, the transformation has been remarkable. Sigrid is fitter, stronger, and more self-assured than she’s been in years. She’s found a place where she feels supported, welcomed, and genuinely safe, a community that treats her like family. Her mental health has shifted in a positive direction, and she’s rediscovered the spark that had dimmed after her traumatic experiences.
Stories like Sigrid’s remind us of the incredible impact a caring community can have. They show us that compassion still exists, that people still show up for one another, and that strength often comes from the most unexpected places.
At Hitfit, we’re proud to have a community with this much heart and honoured to be part of Sigrid’s journey forward.
